Lüdenscheid, March 2026. Recessed luminaires and track spotlights are the classic core tools of architectural lighting. ERCO developed these into a hybrid category: track downlights that combine the benefits of both worlds. The latest addition: Compar linear track downlights. They unite the precision, efficiency and visual comfort of Compar recessed luminaires with the flexibility of track systems.
Luminaires such as the new Compar linear track downlights are an ideal solution for high-quality, individual office environments, for example doctor's offices, agencies, law firms and boutique offices. Here, flexibility is just as important as visual comfort and design. The key advantage of track as the infrastructure for office lighting: luminaires can be repositioned on the track at any time, for example when desk layouts change. Users need no tools and no specialist knowledge. Compar linear track downlights deliver high output from a slim, elegantly proportioned aluminium housing, thanks to powerful linear lighting technology and 12 highly efficient, latest-generation LEDs per luminaire. The proven Compar lighting technology concept, combining compact lens optics with an anti-glare louvre, provides high, standard-compliant visual comfort, including at screen-based workstations.
With a wide choice of light distributions, Compar linear track downlights cover a broad range of applications in offices, administrative buildings and public buildings, wherever track is planned or already installed. They span everything from efficient ambient lighting with wide luminaire spacing to ergonomic workplace lighting with UGR<19. The narrower light distributions - spot, flood and oval flood - use high-power LEDs. For the wider light distributions - wide flood, extra wide flood and oval wide flood - ERCO now uses COB LEDs in two output levels, achieving an exceptionally high efficacy of up to 130 lm/W. This efficient combination of wide luminaire spacing and low energy consumption makes lighting concepts highly cost-effective both to install and to operate.
The consistent appearance and the clear logic across light distributions, output levels and light colours make it a natural choice to combine linear Compar track downlights with linear Compar recessed luminaires within a project. The track downlights connect via an adapter to the ERCO 3-phase track and, in the DALI version, to the DALI track; they can also be connected to the relevant singlets. As an alternative to DALI, Compar linear track downlights are also available with wireless dimming via Casambi, or with dimming directly on the luminaire.
In addition to design, lighting technology and visual comfort, the new Compar linear track downlights also impress in terms of sustainability and longevity. As with all new developments by the manufacturer, this luminaire category is designed for a service life of at least 20 years. Key components such as lenses, LED modules and driver electronics are developed and manufactured by ERCO in-house. Flexible production at the Lüdenscheid site also makes it possible to meet project-specific requirements via the "ERCO individual" service: For Compar linear track downlights, options range from custom colours for housings and anti-glare louvres to OEM track adapters and the integration of wallwasher lighting technology from the Compar programme.
